Dhoni lead with Modesty and Example !

Dhoni, A man of sheer modesty, a leader who lead by example and a great captain who has bags of milestones has stepped down as captain at the helm right time. There is no dearth of doubt that any body in cricket fraternity would ever debate his legacy !!! He is the Greatest captain ever and will be in times to come.

Giving up captaincy for team's future is a small sacrifice for a man who has always come late in batting order in entire career for the team. Now Virat would lead the team in Champions Trophy and world cup as well. Probably Dhoni was knowing the "best time" had talked at lengths with the Chief selector MSK Prasad during a semi final match in Ranji Trophy and handed over the baton to the man who is leading in best fashion !!! It may be his mistake of his life as he would hardly find his place on regular basis in the limited overs as well.

Cricket is the game of uncertainty so is the captaincy in India. His mindset is not of a typical Indian player who would struggle to hang his boots. Let the time come and he would do so and people would be just guessing...Oh it was his day.


Dhoni had given up the Test captaincy in December 2014 and had uttered that let the time come I would take a call. Probably he is the best perso who knows his best...may be the gambling of handing the ball to Joginder Sharma in 2007 T-20 world cup or taking this decision.

He was India's most successful captain, leading the team to victory in the 2007 World T20 in South Africa, the 2011 World Cup in India, and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England. Dhoni captained India in 199 ODIs, of which he won 110 and lost 74. He was captain in 72 T20Is, of which India won 41 and lost 28. He was also India's most successful Test captain, with 27 wins, 18 defeats and 15 draws.

When I was just going through some stats came to know that Dhoni is also the only captain to have led India to ODI and T20I series wins in Australia, and an ODI series win in New Zealand. He is also the only man to win all 3 of the ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC World Twenty20, and ICC Champions Trophy as captain!

He would be remembered for his stats and record and so many trophies and one more thing for collecting the middle stumps. Probably the time would come when i would be able to pen down something on this habit and putting a fielder on leg gully that was his master stroke to get a wicket !

It was March 31, 2016 when MSD shared a banter in his own typical style with a reporter who asked him about retirement, after India v West  Indies, World T20 2016, semi-final at Mumbai. No body would be thinking that the decision would come so quickly. We Indians  have tendency to something more from somebody but he has given his all to the service of his nation. He is a true champion who rose from a very small town and ruled the second religion of India for so long. The captaincy takes a heavy toll on the beard as it was becoming grey two years back and virat has right now. Hope Virat would take this load to be the best in all formats! Many Memories Many emotions for which he will be cherished !

There are some If and buts to his life kit as well but this is not the right time. As an ardent fan of cricket I wish him the luck and good family life post this captain era.

The curious case of Anil Kumble !!!

It was a usual Thursday Evening in the office. A big event was on the Trot. The Clock was ticking to almost 05:00 PM as it was scheduled for an announcement of India Head Coach. The announcement delayed by more than an hour & 15 minutes. I was trying to make the bestest canva cards to flash the breaking.

Finally the melodrama of BCCI came to an end at 06:15 PM and the new boss of BCCI Mr. Anurag Thakur declared Anil Kumble as the coach of Team India for one Year ! The decision was welcomed by one and all with sheer joy across the cricketing fraternity. (On and Off the Field)

956 International wickets in his career, one of the best cricketer India has ever produced. The guy who batted and bowled with a broken jaw, owns a record of taking 10 wickets in his kitty in one inning after Jim Laker. Once his name was there in the ring. Probably it was hard for anybody to cross this challenge to be the favorite of Indian Trios (Sachin- Sourav-Laxman) who were bound to suggest some names to the BCCI.

As a coach his coaching credentials are very limited. He has mentored the two IPL Franchise RCB and Mumbai Indians but it is said that it takes a lot being the coach of team India. I am no body to raise a finger or pin point the selection but his sudden rise amidst those 57 applicants are bound to raise some eyebrows.

As an individual I admire him a lot, his determination, grit and prowess are worth an institution and lot to be admired but as BCCI had made this application public. The "Jumbo" probably fails the first criteria; he has never coached an international or first-class team, which was one of the criteria the BCCI had listed in its job description. Even in professional streams we come across such examples where criterias are just limited to the rule books. I have no dearth of doubt that he may prove an excellent coach and administrator. There’s no doubting his intentions and cricketing credentials, but it’s the manner in which he was selected that raises some questions.

This is a very serious question to the new Boss of BCCI. I am no body to raise a finger or pin point the selection but his sudden rise amidst those 57 applicants who had applied for the same posts are bound to raise some eyebrows. Even Sandip Patil didn't get any mention or invitation courtesy the final round of interviews.

In a routine work I was just going through some classy piece of ESPNCricinfo where I found an interesting bit According to a report published in Cricinfo, Kumble had not made that 21-man shortlist.

It was on the insistence of Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman that his name was added to the pot. If this is the transparency then pardon me BCCI should think to change their some of the policies on which they are working right now. As stated by BCCI President Anurag Thakur on a serious note for god sake make BCCI "more transparent". The news were also rife that even Ravi Shahstri had the backing of Virat Kohli, the captian who is going to lead team for miles. 

May be as he later stated that Rahul Dravid was the first choice and he refused to go with the post and work but it seems that Indis's Fab Five would rule Indian Cricket for some time. Kumble to coach senior team, Dravid to nurture future stars of team India and the trio of Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman in Advisory Committee we can probably hope for the best of team India as it was in 90s when they were the part of dressing room. As I think giving "JUMBO" this responsibility is on a trial and error process; If it goes with the plan they may carry forward unless would look for a change. 

Knowing the way the BCCI functions, it is unlikely these questions will ever be answered. More or less The Jumbo has 365 days to prove his credential as a coach and I hope that he would do so!  

India are set to play 17 Tests mostly on home soil. we may hope that the aggression of Virat and the coool, calm and composed nature of Kumble may bring some good results, and why not the greatest cricketer of our country deserves a chance...As an avid fan of cricket Good luck, Jumbo, and hope it all works out for the best!

In quest of Team India Coach

I don't know why but whenever I try to pen down something digitally so often it is cricket. May be it has become my forte to write something on cricket but next time to be on some really serious issue......though searching a cricket coach through my words was a serious job.

The 'New Boss' of BCCI has invited an open application process for the Coach of Team India. Even the team is without a fix time coach since last one and half Year and has done well  in the recent past but the long quest for this post must come at a logical conclusion.

I was listening to Mr. Anurag Thakur after being chaired as the BCCI Boss. It  hardly reflected that team IND is looking for a foreign National Coach. I lend my voice and support to the "Marathon Man" of India Rahul Sharad Dravid for this post. May be you can take me a biased but he looks as a good option  though.

Few can rival his invaluable experience as a player, having scored over 24,000 runs and 48 centuries in his international kit. Dravid is a modern-day cricket legend and his understanding of the intricacies of the game, including the T20 format, will be of immense value to this young Indian team.

Besides, he has done the hard yard as coach, having mentored IPL teams Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils, apart from coaching junior Indian teams (Under-19 and India A). He understands the rigours of the job.

A man known for his discipline, calm, composure, class, grit and dizzy will would be fit enough to fill in the Big Shoes of India Coach. It is just not about me who admires him as a human more than a cricketer but entire cricketing fraternity loves him specially the young guns; Mr. Dependable gets word of praise from the likes of young kid Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant to Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane).

He is somebody who has always received heap of praise for everything what  he did on and off the field. Be it being the Classy World No-3 Batsman, when thrown grabbed the wicket keeping gloves and at any point of time ready to fit in any kind of situation and even off the field a "Super cool dad" who drops and picks his kids to and from school and goes to collect his LPG on his own... he has got the back of likes of Sunil Gavskar and Ricky Ponting who consider him as the "best guy" to be a lead in this role mentally and physically if he is ready to take this one.

Fit in the shoes of Coach :

To coach a National Team like India is one of the toughest  task. The road to excellence can be brutally lonely and monotonous for a player. We hardly come to know the dedication, devotion and discipline behind a successful cricketer. We just see their success and take it as a piece of cake. 

Just like same a coach who has accomplished success at the highest level can inspire players to realize the importance of routine training regimens, sacrifice and commitment needed to excel in international cricket. What separates the greats from others is work ethic and mental toughness. Dravid has it all in his kitty if BCCI is looking for an Indian Coach.

Being one of the finest batsmen of his time, he can provide the right ecosystem for the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma....some of the most promising batsmen in international cricket. Dravid can help convert their potential into consistent performance, more so in tough overseas conditions where glory can be elusive..

Be at  Best in Test :

Another skill for which Dravid hasn’t received enough credit is fielding in the slip cordon. He holds a world record of 210 catches, mostly in slips... where most players except Rahane have struggled. I was listening him on a TV channel uttering what  it  takes to be the best slip fielder. 

A special practice and sheer concentration makes you the best slip catcher in the world. In my opinion thi place in Test cricket plays a major role. This is one area where Dravid may have to work the hardest as it needs specialized training and understanding of the field position.

Being an avid fan of Cricket and Dravid i think that "The wall" hardly got for what he did for prolong 16 Years. An unsung HERO of cricket  could have deserved more ! It was march 09, 2012 when he hanged his boots and left the room and international cricket as he had walked in......swift and smooth and some tears in his eyes..... He could have been given a chance to a fitting farewell with even a Home Test as BCCI  did for the legend Sachin.

A role model for Many : 

Dravid is a role model for hundreds of  thousands of youngsters in India and deserves a special  feel in millions of cricket loving fans across the globe but sometimes i  do feel sorry for the most  loved gentleman of cricket ......a great player, a great mentor, a great human being but ends up being on the losing side always !!! BCCI should at least give him one chance to don the role of "somebody" who had once made country proud by making it a World Number One and will again do so by nurturing the young kids.        

Can the Indian cricket board get a better endorsement for Rahul Dravid as coach? I don’t think the BCCI will find many better candidates than someone like him. He has given everything to cricket now cricket has a chance to pay him back....isn't it ?

Team India is an Enigma?

Team India is an enigma hard to understand, a 'food' hard to digest and a TEAM hard to buy time on watching? May be a little harsh but team BCCI sorry... India is loosing its shine from one to another overseas tours!

Dhoni, hard to understand or speculate leads a team which is an unsolved puzzle. As a captain MSD has lost his aggression (Internal), charm, Glitter, Shine, temper and probably the zeal to win the match. When the 'Captain' lacks the potential, temperament and grit the "ship is bound to sink".

His body language (even after retiring from fatigue test as he had termed it) even in ODIs look like just as a professional (who is just playing to get some crores to his kitty) not as a player who plays to win or to get result.

There is no dearth of doubt that as stat suggests he is one of the most successful captain IND has ever produced till date but for me he is just a gambler who gambles and sometimes get success.

Causes of Enigma:
Is it the same Rohit Sharma? An absolute time bomb in limited-overs cricket, but an equal disaster in Tests. Is it the same Ravichandran Ashwin, the ‘best’ spinner in the world? Or is he a square turner bully? Ravindra Jadeja is unplayable at home. Very playable and in fact  become the 'target' of rival batsmen away. Or is it the same Mahendra Singh Dhoni? Unbeatable for so long, quite beatable now?Cricket is not a gamble and you can't put money every time on a horse who is injured from one foot. You can only win games by a team effort and the right kind of attitude and spirit.

Team India probably has surpassed the transition phase of Sachin-Dravid-Laxman-Ganguly era and are winning at home on an altered pitch courtesy team director Ravi Shastri.

This is such a bizarre that you call a team (RSA) give them a pitch suited to your own potential and hashtag yourself as the 'HERO' of cricket and questions the hype about pitch! Just after a month the same team goes on a tour and find it hard to defend the total of 300+ in ODIs.You become flat on flat pitches of WACA & GAWA. The same bowler who became world number one in test cricket finds it tough to even throw a DOOSRA or TEESRA. It was 2nd ODI at Gawa and once again Australia paced their pursuit to perfection.

Excuse King DHONI :

I have never heard/seen the biggest excuser than Dhoni in cricketing fraternity! Accepting the defeat is a biggest victory, admit it of you have lost! Only accepting the defeat will strive you for victory. you will not be sacked from ur captaincy just for acceptance.

This 'back bench leader' is immensely talented in readymade excuse after every single defeat either at home or overseas. You may not agree with me but listen Dhoni after any defeat you would probably get this for sure.

"The breeze was not flowing in one way, it was circulating around. It made slightly difficult for Ishant: MS Dhoni" after loosing 2nd ODI in Australia while Ishant bowled well. sometimes back when South Africa defeated he uttered "we lost the match just because there was not so much due" As a captain you can't hide ur failure via excuse. On the contrary Australian bowlers tightened the grip in last 10 overs despite some good hittings from Rahane.

Poor Chap Dhoni :
When a reporter asks you the question of hanging ur boots..take it as an alarm. The OLD Dhoni is probably missing! OOOPS he has gone slimmer during breaks and turned his grey hair black through cosmetic ink, runs even more harder between the wickets but finds it difficult to hit those most non-technical Helicopter shots and make runs since the last T-20 World cup against Srilanka.

(1stODI :18 runs on 13 balls, 2nd ODI:11 runs on 10 balls no boundary against AUS) He probably is the not "the finisher" he was known for. Team India couldn't hit a boundary in last 19 balls. No body knows what would be the right time for Dhoni to hang his boot but he doesn't really look like the OLD Dhoni on the field. Every single defeat against his name is bringing the curtains down on his career as a player. Take my word the next T20 world cup may be his last stint as a player if wind doesn't go in his favour! 

'Sir Jadeja' a constant headache :  

Whether Jadeja plays well or not Dhoni gets an excuse to rate him as the biggest all rounder to be included in team. I hardly remeber a match victory through Jaddu's clinical performance. Axar is warming the bench who could be more worthy than him. 

Ashwin is again his best mate who stood for him in both good and bad times so he is always in the team if MSD is captain. Score of players are waiting on the bench for their turn.

The team India needs a change either in attitude or in the captain. Team India was an enigma even in 90s and is still an enigma in 2016. 

This is not the good beginning for team India in New Year.

   

सोशल मीडिया पर कितने 'सोशल' हैं लोग?

सोशल मीडिया इंसान के जीवन का अब वो 'आठवां रंग' है जिसके बिना बाकी के सात रंग फीके लगने लगे हैं मीडिया की यह दुनिया अतरंगी और बहुरंगी है पर विडम्बना ये है कि इनमे रंग कम और रोगन अधिक है, तालियां कम और गालियां अधिक है।

आप मानें या ना मानें लेकिन (कथित रूप से) एक-दूसरे से जुड़े रहने के इस माध्यम ने इंसान को पास करने से अधिक दूर किया है, किसी को रातों-रात हीरो तो किसी को जीरो बना दिया है।

इस माध्यम ने ही जहां लखनऊ के टाइपराइटर बाबा किशन कुमार को सुरक्षा गार्ड तक मुहैया करवा दिया, वहीं अलयान कुर्दी की तस्वीर ने मानवता को झकझोर कर रख दिया, मोहम्मद अहमद को मिले विश्व भर से समर्थन ने उसे रातों-रात हीरो बना दिया।

लेकिन इस माध्यम की अपनी सीमाएं और बंदिशें भी हैं। आज मैं आपको इस सोशल दुनिया के 'अनसोशल सच' से रू-ब-रू कराता हूँ। यह जरूरी नहीं कि आप मेरी राय से सहमत हों लेकिन इस मीडिया का एक सच (पक्ष) यह भी है। इस माध्यम के बारे में आपकी भी सकारात्मक या नकारात्मक राय हो सकती है और होनी भी चाहिए।

दरअसल भारत जैसे 'बाजारू' (बाजारवाद की ओर विकासशील) देश में इस माध्यम ने आज अपना पैर 'चादर' से बाहर पसार दिया है इसलिए अब हमारी मूलभूत आवश्यकताओं की रेडीमेड सूची कुछ इस तरह पढ़ी जाती है ....रोटी, कपड़ा और मोबाइल और हो भी क्यों ना जब दुनिया में ही लगभग हर तीसरे व्यक्ति के पास मोबाइल है और उस मोबाइल में उनकी 'अपनी तथाकथित एक सोशल दुनिया'। यहाँ अब लोगों के दिनचर्या का अपडेट .....खाते हुए, नहाते हुए, कॉफी पीते हुए, वायुयान से घर जाते हुए और वश चले तो "फीलिंग रिलैक्स्ड आफ्टर डूइंग पोटी" के प्रारूप में मिलते हैं।

पिछली बार हमारे खेत में काम करने वाला चंद्रशेखर भी कह रहा था भैया एक ठो हमरा भी खाता (एकाउंट) बना देते इसमें बतियाते सबसे हम भी।

यहाँ ये ध्यान रखने वाली बात है की हमारे देश में आज भी सोशल मीडिया का मतलब पहला फेसबुक और दूसरा ट्विटर ही है। विगत 27 अगस्त को इस ब्रहमांड के 'हर 7 में से एक शख्स' ने अपने दोस्त या रिश्तेदार से जुड़ने या बातचीत के लिए फेसबुक का उपयोग किया लेकिन इसकी दुनिया बड़ी है लेकिन इसकी दुनिया बड़ी है, व्हाट्सऐप, वी चैट, लाइन, टिंडर (डेटिंग ऐप), याहू मैसेंजर, फेसबुक मैसेंजर, हाइक, पिनट्रेस्ट, गूगल प्लस, टंबलर, इंस्टाग्राम और ना जानें कई जिनके नाम मुँह जबानी याद भी नहीं हैं। 140 शब्दों की सीमा में चहकने वाले माध्यम (ट्विटर) का नाम लोगों ने तब जाना जब शशि थरूर ने चहकना शुरू किया था, आज यह समाचार प्राप्त करने और देने का सबसे बड़ा माध्यम बन चुका है। ब्रेकिंग खबर यहीं से मिलती है। वैसे कभी-कभी अनुराग कश्यप जैसे लोग 'मिस कॉल देकर मीडिया की फिरकी भी ले लेते हैं', वहीं फेसबुक किसी डॉक्टर के चीट्ठे की वो दवा है जिसे लोग सोने से पहले और जागने के बाद नियमित सुबह-शाम गरोसने लगे हैं।

अब बात अपनी ही कहूँ तो पिछले सात सालों से इस माध्यम का हिस्सा हूं, इसे सीखने और जानने की कोशिश की है, इसे अपनाया है और मन ही मन यहां मौजूद लोगों और उनके क्रिया-कलाप पर एक रिसर्च भी किया है। सन 2008 में दिल्ली आया था, इससे पहले इंटरनेट और उनकी सुविधाओं का उपयोग अमावश्या-पूर्णिमा ही करने को मिलता था। दोस्त सीमित थे और उनसे जुड़े रहने के लिए (विष्णु सिनेमा हॉल के सामने दशरथ के चाय की दुकान या जी डी कॉलेज) शहर के एक चाय की दुकान और एक कॉलेज का मैदान काफी था। लाइव (शाब्दिक) बातचीत के लिए जिस जादुई माध्यम का पहली बार इस्तेमाल किया वह था (Gtalk) जी टॉक, उस समय ऑरकुट का भी क्रेज था। अधिक दोस्तों की संख्या वाले लोग 'पद्म-भूषण' या 'भारत रत्न' टाइप फील करते थे और चिरकुट टाइप स्क्रैपबुक लिखते थे जैसे उनके शब्दों से देश में सत्ता परिवर्तन या कोई बहुत बड़ा बदलाव आ जाएगा।

लुब्बोलुआब ये की यही मनोदशा बदस्तूर आज भी जारी है, ये आप भी अनुभव कर सकते हैं या कर ही रहे होंगें। सिर्फ बदलते समय के साथ सोशल मीडिया का रंग, रूप, आकार बदल गया है। नई बोतल में पुराना माल। यहां अगर आप ढंग का या सार्थक लिखते हैं तो इस कलमुँहे समाज से अनमने (बिना पढ़े) ढंग से भी "लाइक के लाले" पड़ जाएं (क्योंकि अब लोग शायद लाइक के लिए अधिक लिखने लगे हैं) या अक्सर दोस्तों को कहना भी पड़ता है भाई कुछ लिखे हैं मेरे वाल पर आकर देखना। लेकिन अगर कोई लड़की 'फीलिंग इन लव विद 'फलाना कुमार' एंड 27 अदर्स भी लिख दें' तो उनकी मित्र सूची में नहीं होने की बावजूद 400-500 लाइक तो गिर ही जाते हैं जो अगले दिन मेट्रो में ऑफिस जाते वक्त चर्चा का विषय बनता है। 'यू नो मेरे उस वाले 'पाउट' पे ना आई गॉट 300 लाइक्स' और अगले दिन उनका स्टेटस होता है फीलिंग प्राउड।

यहाँ बौद्धिकता से लबालब भरे कुछ कथित लेखक 'चेतन भगत' बनना चाहते हैं तो कुछ कथित लेखिका 'तस्लीमा नसरीन'। इस माध्यम पर मौजूद लोगों में से अधिकांशतः चाइल्ड ऐज सिंड्रोम (Child Age Syndrome)  या आइडेंटिफिकेशन क्राइसिस (Identification Crisis) जैसी जानलेवा बीमारी से जूझते मिलेंगे भले उनकी मित्र सूची ठसाठस क्यों ना भरी हो। अगर उन्होंने एक पोस्ट लिखा और 20 मिनट होने तक भी कोई प्रतिक्रिया नहीं आयी तो एक बार दुबारा उसी पोस्ट को एडिट कर पुनः कुछ दोस्तों को टैग करेंगे या खुद ही लाइक कर उस पे प्रतिक्रिया लिखेंगे "क्या आप दोस्तों को मेरा फीड दिख रहा है टाइप"। कुछ अच्छे लोग भी हैं यहां बढियां लिखते हैं, जिन्हें पढ़ना अच्छा लगता है लेकिन उन्हें भी गालियां पड़ती है और वो यहां से कट लेते हैं।

पिछले एक डेढ़ सालों में इस माध्यम ने नकारात्मक लिखने और बोलने वालों के लिए सकारात्मक परिणाम दिए हैं। पिछले लोक सभा चुनाव का परिणाम इसका जीता जागता परिणाम है। पिछले कुछ दिनों में यहां वैमनष्यता बढ़ी है। गंवार, जाहिल और 'पढ़े लिखे जाहिल' का संख्या विस्फोट हुआ है। अब ऐसा मालूम होता है जैसे समाज वर्गों में बटा है "भक्त टाइप,  फैन टाइप" या "भुक्तभोगी टाइप", मेरा भी कोई एक टाइप होगा जो आप चुन लें या समझें। मुझे तो शायद ही याद हो जब आखिरी बार (बिना काम के) हमने किसी दोस्त से (अंतरंग) सबसे लंबी बातचीत सोशल मीडिया के किसी भी माध्यम से की हो। हम में से अधिकांश लोग ऐसे ही हैं।

24x7 ऑनलाइन होते हुए भी हम सबके लिए ऑफलाइन होते हैं, कोई दोस्त पिंग ना कर दे, कोई मदद ना मांग बैठे इसलिए हम अकसर ऑफलाइन हो जाते हैं। ऐसी स्तिथि से रू-ब-रू होने पर  किस एंगल से कोई किसी को सोशल और इस मीडिया को एक सोशल मीडिया कहना उचित समझेगा? दरअसल, इस माध्यम का नाम भले ही 'सोशल मीडिया' रखा गया हो लेकिन यहां आपको सबसे अधिक 'अनसोशल लोग' ही अब मिलेंगे।

इसलिए बेहतर है कि गंभीर और सार्थक बहस के लिए सोशल मीडिया का सहारा बिल्कुल ना लें वरना आपको लोग यहां बेसहारा मान बैठते हैं।

इस माध्यम में टाइप्ड होनी की आजादी है लेकिन यह टाइप्ड  होना आपको एक ऐसी दिशा में ले जा रहा है जहां से 'घरवापसी' मुश्किल है। इसलिए लिखिए, पढ़िए, फॉलो कीजिये लेकिन टाइप्ड होने से बचिए।

उधार लिए शब्दों से हम सब बातचीत कर पाते हैं

चुनाव के बाजल पीपहू ; जीततै पार्टी हारभो तोयं

बिहार में विधानसभा चुनाव की तारीखों की घोषणा कर दी गई है। अब शुरू होगा ‘बिहार, ईवीएम (बैलेट), वोट और बाटली का असली खेल। सुना है राजनीति शब्द की उत्पत्ति यहीं से हुई है, चाणक्य से लेकर अशोक तक इसका साक्षात प्रमाण हैं वैसे इस ‘डिजिटल इंडिया‘ वाले युग में यहां पांच साल का नाक बहता (नेटा चूता) बच्चा भी इस शास्त्र में निपुण है।

वो रिक्शा वाला हो या ठेला वाला या फिर फेरी वाला या फिर ट्रेन में सफर कर रहा एक व्यक्ति, अगर आप गलती से भी राजनीति में एक बिहारी से टकराए तो एक आध घंटे तो वो बिना सांस लिए आपको ज्ञान पेल (बघार) सकता है।

बिहार चुनाव का पीपहू (बिगुल) बज चुका है, चुनावी रण में शंखनाद के लिए सभी पार्टियों ने कमर कस ली है। लालू भी मुरेठा कस चुके हैं और उनके चड्डी फ्रेंड नीतीश फारा (किसी भारी-भरकम काम को करने से पहले कमर को गमछे से बाँधना)।

हम सब के प्रधानमंत्री मोदी भी दो-तीन चुनावी रैलियों में एक-डेढ़ शब्द जैसे ‘कैसन बा’ बोल आए हैं, लेकिन डर लगता है कि लोग इसे चुनावी जुमला ना समझ बैठें !

लालू यादव ने चुनाव की तिथि घोषित होने के बाद इसे ‘देश का चुनाव’ बता दिया, हो भी क्यों ना, एक तरफ नीतीश (बिहारी DNA पर मोदी की प्रतिक्रिया से लगी तितकी के बाद) इसे बिहारी अस्मिता से जोड़कर भुना रहे हैं।

लगभग 10.41 करोड़ आबादी वाले इस राज्य में 6.68 करोड़ मतदाता हैं जिन्हें अपने लिए राज्य का एक बेहतर मुखिया चुनना है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि साक्षरता एक सरकार चुनने में अहम भूमिका निभाती है ऐसे में 2011 में जारी सेंसस रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक 61.80 फीसदी जनता को एक अहम किरदार निभाना होगा।

यह कहना अतिश्योक्ति नहीं होगी कि बिहार विधान सभा चुनाव “NDA का DNA” टेस्ट है। एक ऐसा डीएनए टेस्ट जो प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में नरेंद्र मोदी के आने शासन काल की दशा और दिशा दोनो तय करेगा वहीं दूसरी ओर बिहार की राजनीति में एक नया भोर (सुबह की किरण) लेकर भी आ सकता है।

दिमाग का रायता कर चुके समाचार चैनल पर प्राइम टाइम यूजर्स को इंद्राणी मुखर्जी और लाल साड़ी वाली राधे  से थोड़ी राहत मिल जाएगी और लिट्टी-चोखा टाइप कुछ नया देखने को भी मिल जाएगा। कुछ दिनों के लिए ही सही मूड ‘झाल-मुरही और कचड़ी‘ टाइप हो जाएगा और ‘इंडिया’ लुटियन दिल्ली और मेट्रो शहर से बाहर निकलकर भारत के एक राज्य बिहार के सुदूर गांव में किराए पर रहेगा।

जहां अब रोज जदयू-राजद, भाजपा और बसपा टीआरपी की होड़ में हिन्दी मीडिया के ‘सूत्र‘ (कभी पता नहीं लगने वाला/बिग बॉस की तरह ना दिखने वाला) के हवाले से दो चार सीट आगे पीछे रहेंगे, हो सकता है कड़ी टक्कर भी देते दिखें। आप घबराइएगा नहीं ये टक्कर आपको दिग्भ्रमित करने के लिए भी हो सकता है… बस प्राइम टाइम में चैनल बदलते रहिएगा और हर एक मिनट के बाद पांच मिनट का ब्रेक ले लीजिएगा और देखते रहिएगा मनपसंद कार्यक्रम ‘धैलो लाठी कपाड़ पर‘।

कुछ चैनल भाजपा को जिताएंगे तो कुछ ‘ढाई टांग‘ वाले गठबंधन को। आप सब अपनी सीट पर जमे रहिएगा और प्राइम टाइम भी देख सकते हैं, वैसे प्राइम टाइम देखकर आप में से बहुत कम लोग वोट देंगे। हो सकता है इससे कन्फ्यूजन बहुते क्लियर ना हो पाए तो किसी को सीट पर बैठाने के लिए विवेक का इस्तेमाल करिएगा। वैसे भी जन-धन वाले अकाउंट में इस बार 1.25 लाख करोड़ वाला कुछ झाड़न-झुंडन तो आ ही जाएगा।एक आध बार पासबुक सिरहौना से गोड़थारी (एने-ओने) या हिला-डोला कर देख लीजिएगा। क्या पता इस बार वाला ‘चुनावी जुमला’ ना हो वैसे गया के चुनावी रैली में आपका उन्माद तो यही कह रहा था।

इस राज्य में जातिवाद है और यह लोगों की नसों में घुसियायल (भरा) है, पिछली बार चुनाव में कहा गया कि बिहार जातिवाद से ऊपर उठ गया, राज्य को इतना बड़ा मैंडेट मिला है लेकिन यह महज एक भ्रम था। जब तक जातिवाद की राजनीति है यह अंदाजा लगाना मुश्किल होगा कि ऊंट किस करवट बैठेगा। यादव वोट पर लालू वर्षों से कुंडली मारे बैठे हैं लेकिन पिछले दस साल से बिहार में हाशिए पर चल रहे राजद के लिए जनता पार्टी का ढनमनाता गठबंधन एक नया विश्वास लेकर आया है, नीतीश के साथ आना उनके लिए फायदेमंद साबित होगा। वहीं कुर्मी, कोयरी और मुस्लिम वोट हर चुनाव में जदयू को ही जाता है वहीं भूमिहार और सवर्ण वोट पर कमोबेश भाजपा का कब्जा होगा, कुल जमा दंगल जबरदस्त होने वाला है।

अभी हाल में एक फिल्म मांझी आयी थी और बीच में बिहार में जीतन राम मांझी कुछ दिनों के लिए मुख्यमंत्री भी बन पाए थे। मुसहर समुदाय का वोट मांझी भी ले जा सकते हैं, वैसे यह फिल्म तो नहीं चली लेकिन बिहार की राजनीति में मांझी लोग जाग गए होंगे लेकिन सिनेमा देखकर तो कतई नहीं!

16वीं लोक सभा चुनाव में भाजपा को मिले विशाल जनमत में वोटों का कुल प्रतिशत 31 फीसदी था। वैसे बहुत सारे बिहारी रोजी रोटी के चक्कर में दिल्ली से दुबई तक ढेंगराए (पसरे) हुए हैं सवाल यह भी है कि क्या वो वोट देने जाएंगे। नहीं भी जाएंगे फिर भी वोटिंग होगी और जीत भी किसी ना किसी पार्टी की होगी। मौका मिले तो जाइएगा, वैसे भी दीपावली, छठ, मुहर्रम और बकरीद सब उसी समय है, हमहूँ सामान सरियाना (समेटना) शुरू कर दिए हैं, टिकट हो गया तो जरूर जाएंगे।

लोक सभा चुनाव के काले धन वाले ‘चुनावी जुमलों’ के बाद मोदी सरकार ने बिहार के लिए (चाइये कि नहीं चाइये टाइप इस्टाईल में) 1.25 लाख करोड़ के पैकेज की घोषणा की है वहीं नितीश इसे पुराने पैकेज की री-पैकेजिंग बता रहे हैं और एक नए विजन के साथ 2.5 लाख करोड़ की घोषणा कर दी है। अब यह देखना भी दिलचस्प होगा कि कुल जमा 3.75 लाख करोड़ से बिहार का कितना विकास होता है, ये ‘क्योटो बनेगा या अगले पांच साल में ‘बनने वाला काशी‘।

बिहार की सड़कें बेहतर हुई हैं, गांव में भी बिजली लगभग 17-18 घंटे रहती है,  (पहले आता नहीं था (जब चप्पल उल्टा करके मनाते थे कि जल्दी आ जाए मैच तो छूट गया) अब जाता नहीं है। शिक्षा मित्रों की बहाली भी हुई है लेकिन शिक्षा व्यवस्था अब भी जस की तस है। शिक्षा व्यवस्था में बहुत सुधार की गुंजाइश है, देश के भविष्य का वर्तमान सुधारने वाले काबिल लोगों की कमी है। 2000 छात्रों पर चार पांच शिक्षक मिला जाएंगे वो भी पढ़ाई लिखाई में नीपल-पोतल (जीरो बटे सन्नाटा) मिलेंगे। एक आध बार हम भी स्कूल में पढ़ाने गए थे जानकर दुख हुआ कि बढियां मास्साब नहीं हैं, छात्र-छात्राओं को स्कूल जाने के लिए साइकिल भी मिला है वो जाते भी हैं। शिक्षा व्यवस्था में बहुत सुधार की गुंजाइश है यह राज्य देश के किसी भी राज्य को हर मामले में पीछे छोड़ सकता है। अभी भी इस राज्य से पलायन कम नहीं हुआ, भले आपको इस धरती पर एलियन मिले ना मिले इस ब्रह्मांड के किसी भी भूभाग में बिहारी जरूर मिलेगा।

गॉंव मुहल्ले में पॉलिथीन वाले शराब के ठेकों ने बिहार के युवाओं को असामयिक मौत की तरफ धकेला है, पिछले चार-पांच सालों में युवाओं में शराब पीने की लत बढ़ी है, यह किसी ‘सूत्र’ नहीं आँखों-देखी और कानों-सुनी बात कह रहा हूँ। पिछले साल गाँव गया था तो कई युवाओं के मौत की खबर सुनने को मिली और वजह शराब थी। शासन व्यवस्था सभी राज्यों की लगभग एक जैसी ही होती है, बिहार अपवाद नहीं है।

दीपावली से पहले परिणाम भी आएगा और बिहार वासियों को मुर्गा छाप छुरछुरिया और फुलझड़ी (पटाखा) छोड़ने का मौका भी मिलेगा लेकिन भोट करिएगा तभी तो।

वैसे एगो राज की बात बताएं श्श्श…. बिहार की राजनीति में साक्षर सभी हैं लेकिन चुनाव के समय पौआ और पॉलिथीन के चक्कर में पढ़लो-लिखल निरक्षर हो जाएं।

एक शिक्षक होने का सुख !!!

2006 में अपने कमरे में छात्रों को पढ़ाते हुए 

बीते सोमवार सप्ताहांत की छुट्टी में कमरा साफ करते हुए कुछ पुरानी तस्वीरें हाथ लगी, कुछ यादें जिसे सहेज कर रखने की आदत है मेरी।

सालों पहले कभी डायरी लिखने की आदत थी, उनके पन्ने पलटकर जब देखने का मौका मिला तो लगा जिंदगी के बेहतरीन पलों को पीछे छोड़ मैं भी 'शहर' हो चला हूँ।

मध्यमवर्गीय परिवार से होने की वजह से छात्र जीवन की अपनी कुछ सीमाएं थी। उन सीमाओं के साथ वाली पगडंडियों पर चलकर रोजगार के सिलसिले में दिल्ली आ गया।

जीवन के कई बसंत बीत गए। कुछ चीजें ऐसी हैं जो आज भी दिल और मन को रोमांचित कर देती है, एक शिक्षक होना और "शिक्षक होने का सुख" इसी कड़ी में जीवन के साथ जुड़ गया, जिसकी स्मृतियां अविस्मरणीय हैं। हालांकि ये सफर मेरे लिए आसान नहीं रहा है पर अतीत चाहे कितना ही संघर्षशील क्यों ना हो उसकी स्मृतियां सदैव मधुर होती है।

उन सभी छात्रों का शुक्रिया जिनकी वजह से मैं शिक्षक बन पाया, मैं एक अच्छा बोलक्कर बन गया और अटूट निश्छल प्रेम और स्नेह मिला। पता नहीं क्यों लेकिन आज उनके बारे में लिखने का दिल कर रहा है। यादों के साये सच में साथ ही होते हैं।

मेरे सबसे पहले शिक्षक मेरी माँ और दादा (बाबूजी) हमेशा से मेरे प्रेरणास्त्रोत रहे हैं जिन्होंने मुझे एक बेहतर इंसान बनाने के लिए अपनी जिंदगी खपा दी। उनको ये दिन समर्पित। इस सफर में मुझे लगभग 6 सालों तक एक शिक्षक के जीवन जीने का सौभाग्य मिला। इसकी भी कहानी एक सामान्य किसान परिवार के लड़के के लिए किसी रोमांच से कम नही है।

NDA की फाइनल परीक्षा में सफल ना होने की वजह से दादा ने डांटकर कहा अब आप अपनी पढ़ाई का जिम्मा उठाओ। ट्यूशन पढ़ाना उस समय मेरी मजबूरी थी। 2002 में BSA की 24 इंच वाली साइकिल चलाकर 250 रूपए के लिए पढ़ाया वो पहला होम ट्यूशन और वो छात्र याद आ रहा है। मैं उस छात्र का सबसे बढ़िया दोस्त था, वह मेरे साथ खूब मस्ती करता था और यहीं से शुरू हुआ मेरे शिक्षक बनने का सफर। कालांतर में इस जीवन से प्रेम हो गया। इसे खूब जिया, खूब पढ़ाया, (17-18 की उम्र में ही ) बच्चों से खूब सम्मान पाया।

दादा की नसीहतें साथ में थी की शिक्षा दान की चीज है सो जहाँ तक संभव हो सका इस आर्थिक युग में इसे दान करने से गुरेज नही किया। उस आर्थिक रूप से विपन्न छात्रों की प्रतिभा का आज भी कायल हूँ।

होम ट्यूशन का सफर एक कोचिंग तक पहुँच गया था, छात्रों की संख्या बढ़ गयी थी और जिम्मेदारी का भाव भी। यहां से मेरे जीवन में एक नया मोड़ आया जब मेरा चयन BHU में फ्रेंच भाषा से स्नातक के लिए हुआ था, लेकिन किसी खास वजह से दाखिला नहीं ले पाया। मेरे छात्र मेरे इस चयन पर दुखी थे लेकिन जब उन्हें पता चला कि मैं नहीं जा रहा हूँ तो उनके चेहरे की खुशी मेरे दाखिला ना ले पाने के गम पर भारी पड़ गया।

आज जब नयी पीढ़ी के छात्र-शिक्षक संबंध बदल रहे हैं। शिक्षकों की गुणवत्ता में बदलाव आ रहे हैं तो मुझे वो वाकया याद आ रहा है जब  वर्ष 2005-06, अगस्त माह की 13 तारीख थी, पूरी रात जोरदार बारिश हुई, सुबह जब आँख खुली तो मेरे कमरे (40x30 हॉल) के सामने वाले आँगन में पानी लबालब भर चुका था, तब मैं ने अपने घर पर पढ़ाना शुरू कर दिया था ( लगभग 13 बैच में 350 से अधिक छात्रों पढ़ाता था)। बारिश दो तीन दिन लगातार हुई, आँगन में खाई होने की वजह से पानी इतना भर गया था कि मुझे लगा अब छात्रों को नहीं पढ़ा पाउँगा या सारे बैच बंद करने होंगे लेकिन सभी छात्रों ने दो-तीन दिन तक उस जमे पानी को निकालने का प्रयास किया हालाकि लगातार बारिश ने उनके इरादों को विफल कर दिया; पर उनका ये स्नेह ये समर्पण आज भी अक्षुण है और चिरस्थायी भी। आखिरकार मुझे ही उन छात्रों की जीवटता के आगे झुकना पड़ा और पढ़ाने के लिए अलग कमरा किराये पर लेना पड़ा।

इस मुफलिसी के दौर में ठिकाना एक दोस्त के यहाँ होता था जिसका कृतज्ञ हूँ मैं। यह सिलसिला चलता रहा। कभी कभी मेरा हौसला भी डगमगाया पर मैं इसमें इतना डूब गया था की इसके बगैर नींद भी नही आती थी। यही मेरा रश्क भी था और इश्क भी।   .

एक ऐसा ही और वाकया तब हुआ जब नवरात्र के दौरान दरभंगा से परीक्षा देकर लौटते हुए बरौनी से बेगुसराय (जन्म भूमि और कर्मभूमि) वापस जाने की कोई व्यवस्था नहीं थी। ट्रेन सुबह 05 बजे थी और मेरा पहला बैच 06 बजे, वहाँ से जाने का कोई साधन नहीं और जेब में मात्र 70 रूपए बचे थे। उस रात भी बारिश हो रही थी मैं लगभग 13 किलोमीटर पैदल ही चला गया। पाँव में छाले पड़ गए थे, राष्ट्रीय उच्च पथ (NH-31) पर लम्बी ट्रक सांय-सांय पास करते हुए डरा रही थी। लगभग दो घंटे पैदल चलने के बाद घर पहुंचा। सुबह छात्र अपने नियत समय पर पहुँच गए लेकिन मेरे पढ़ाने के इस जज्बे और पंचर हालत को देखकर सबों ने खुद ही छुट्टी कर ली।

पिछले साल (एक मुलाकात के दौरान पता चला) कुछ छात्रों के पास आज भी अपने पहले दिन का नोट संभालकर रखा है जो मैं ने अपनी लेखनी से थिन पेपर पर लिखा था, या जिसमें पढ़ाने से पहले मैं थॉट ऑफ द डे लिखता था। यह देखकर दिल वाकई गद-गद हो गया और मन सेंटी।

एक शिक्षक को जिस तरह का जितना मातृ-सुख या पितृ-सुख या सम्मान मिलता है, उतना ब्रह्मांड के किसी मां-बाप को नहीं मिल सकता है। आज यह लगता है कि वो छात्र ना होते तो मैं यह सब नहीं कर पाता। वाकई मैं सौभाग्यशाली था कि आप लोगों जैसे छात्र मिले। मैं आज भी उन सब छात्रों को याद करता हूँ और उनके सफल जीवन की कामना करता हूँ। आज भी जब कभी कोई भी भूले बिसरे मुझे फोन करता है तो उनकी आवाज से मेरे अन्दर का वो शिक्षक जाग जाता है। उन छात्रों का पुनः शुक्रिया जिनकी वजह से मैं कभी शिक्षक बना। इस कसौटी पर कितना सफल या असफल हुआ ये तो वही छात्र बताएंगे।

सच्ची प्रीत है मांझी...!

कुछ कहानियाँ ऐसी होती हैं जो अखबार के पन्नों तक सिमट कर रह जाती हैं, कुछ डिनर के वक्त चर्चा का विषय बन जाती हैं, कुछ कहानियाँ टीवी के लिए ब्रेकिंग न्यूज़ (हॉट टॉक) और कुछ ऐसी होती हैं (जिनमें सत्य होता है), जिसकी आपने कभी कल्पना न की हो, उसके साथ सिर्फ बड़ा पर्दा ही न्याय कर पाता है ऐसे ही दशरथ मांझी के सच्चे प्रेम की सच्ची कहानी है 'मांझी -The Mountain Main'।

ऐसी बहुत कम फिल्में होती हैं जिन्हे देखकर आपको कुछ लिखने का दिल करे या वो आपके दिमाग में घूमती रहे लेकिन इस फिल्म में 'सांची रे ,सांची रे मांझी तोरा प्रीत है सांची.....' जैसे शब्द अभी भी प्रतिध्वनि की तरह सुनाई दे रहे हैं।

आज से सात साल पहले जब दिल्ली आया था तो एक मित्र ने मांझी की कहानी बतायी थी, तब भी आश्चर्य हुआ था कि कोई ऐसा कैसे कर सकता है! वाकई प्रेम में एक अदम्य साहस है, मांझी के "विरह में भी एक अजीब प्रेम" है।

उसका एक प्रेम फगुनिया से है लेकिन उसकी मौत के बाद अपनी जान पर बनने के बाद दूसरा प्रेम पहाड़ से भी है, प्रेम के इन दो अलग-अलग रूप को देखकर कभी-कभी आँखें सजल हो जाती हैं।  

ऐसा काम सिर्फ एक सनकी, ठरकी या (बिहारी भाषा में) बौरा गया और प्रेम में डूबा इंसान ही कर सकता है। बेमिसाल छायांकन और सहज संवाद इस फिल्म की सबसे मजबूत कड़ी है।

फिल्में खान, कपूर और अख्तर भी बनाते हैं और वहीं इरफ़ान, नवाज़ और मेनन भी। दोनों तरीके की फिल्मों में अंतर बिलकुल स्पष्ट दिख जाता है।      

सच और कहानी में फर्क होता है, मांझी एक सच है इस समाज का, वर्ग का, उस जातिवाद का जो आज भी मौजूद है और सबसे अधिक एक ऐसे इंसान का जिसने प्रेम और विरह की बीच कुछ ऐसा किया जिसे रूपहले पर्दे पर नवाज़ुद्दीन सिद्दीकी ने जिया है। सरफरोश में 54 सेकंड के किरदार से मांझी के 2 घंटे 04 मिनट तक का सफर नवाज़ का मार्केट रेट तो फिक्स कर ही देता अगर यह फिल्म लीक ना हुई होती।

इस फिल्म को देखते वक्त मुझे 'पान सिंह तोमर' के इरफान की याद आने लगी। जिसे बनाने के बाद एक साक्षात्कार में तिग्मांशु धूलिया ने कहा था कि अगर "हीरो (Khans) को चंबल में शूटिंग के लिए ले जाया जाए तो उनके नाक से खून आ जाएगा।  

कुछ फिल्में हीरो और 'अभिनेता' के बीच का अंतर बताती हैं मांझी उनमें से एक है। केतन मेहता ने एक बार फिर "शानदार, जबरदस्त और जिंदाबाद" फिल्म बनायी है।

कभी-कभी तो ऐसा लगता है मानो पहाड़ भी एक जीवंत किरदार हो, नवाज़ का उन पहाड़ों से बात करना शाहरूख के घोड़े से बतियाने वाले (बनावटी) किरदार से लाखों गुना बढियां लगता है। भारी-भरकम संवाद को सहजता से कहने की कला में जैसे उन्होंने महारत हासिल कर ली हो 'जैसे इ प्रेम में बहुत बल है बबुआ' या अखबार निकालना पहाड़ तोड़े से भी ज्यादे मुश्किल है क्या ।

फगुनिया के छोटे से किरदार में राधिका आप्टे सही लगी हैं वहीं पंकज त्रिपाठी और मुखिया (तिग्मांशु धुलिया) भी अपने किरदार के साथ फिट बैठे हैं। 

यह फिल्म भले ही सौ करोड़ वाले क्लब में शामिल ना हो लेकिन अवार्ड तो जीतेगी ऐसी उम्मीद है।

प्रेम और विरह की बीच कभी पहाड़ भी किसी का साथी हो सकता है इसे भी कमाल तरीके से दर्शाया गया है। सिनेमा हॉल में इस फिल्म को देखने वाले दर्शक कम थे, कुछ दर्शकों को अपच लग रहा था और बहुतों ने तो डाउनलोड कर ही देख लिया होगा।

एक व्यक्ति अपनी जिंदगी खपा देता है एक फिल्म बनाने में, उस पर रिसर्च करने में, एक अभिनेता उस किरदार को जीने में वर्षों लगा देता है और कुछ लोग उसे डाउनलोड कर देख लेते हैं, ऐसी फिल्में कम बनती हैं, ऐसी फिल्मों को हॉल जाकर देखना चाहिए।

वैसे 'On a lighter note'  मैं इस फिल्म को डाउनलोड कर देखने वालों के लिए दो मिनट का मौन रख लूंगा। :P :P

उम्मीद करता हूँ कि इस फिल्म के सफल होने के बाद रियल लाइफ के मांझी (22 साल तक लगातार पहाड़ तोड़ने वाले) के परिवार की स्थिति भी थोड़ी सुदृढ़ होगी। एक और मांझी अभी बिहार के आने वाले विधान सभा चुनाव में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाने वाले हैं लेकिन इस माउंटेन मेन मांझी का राजनीतिकरण ना हो तो खुशी होगी।

रील लाइफ के मांझी को इससे भी बढियां और ढेर सारी फिल्म मिले । मांझी एक बेहद ही उम्दा और शानदार बनी फिल्म है, नवाज़ का फैन तो मैं पहले भी था लेकिन इस फिल्म को देखकर फैनेटिक हो गया, इस बन्दे की फिल्म का इन्तजार करता हूँ।

आपने नहीं देखी है तो उस रियल लाइफ के मांझी के लिए ही सही इसे एक बार देख लीजिए।   

Legends don't retire

I was in no mood to pen down anything after witnessing a one sided affair between Lankan Lions and Proteas but this is the picture seen on social media that has forced me to pay a tribute to both the legends Mahela and Sanga.

It took almost 23 Years for South Africa to put a full stop on its knockout hoodoo. RSA has become the first team to enter Semi Final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Kumar Sangakkara and Jayawardene wouldn't have expected such a retirement !

One must really feel for Sanga and Mahela....why mostly legends end their careers in a tragedy! Be it Dravid, Sourav, Sachin or Ponting .

The leading run scorer of world cup (541 runs in 7 matches) with four consecutive centuries was looking annoyed at the other end while no one stayed to "make it a day" memorable for them.

Cricket has produced many greats and pair across International arena but the jodi of Mahela & Sanga will always be remembered as the greatest ambassador of cricket.

The pair of Sourav- Sachin had also enjoyed many more success but personally i feel watching this pair bat was eye soothing. There is a common saying that Legends don't retire and same is the case with this pair.

Sri Lanka takes the 'C' word from South Africa :
The first quarter-final between the two more schizophrenic teams of the tournament yielded a below expected result, perhaps we as an spectator were looking for some fight, grit and determination from both sides but the unnecessary experiment costed SL a home ticket.

It was looking that they have taken back the most talked tag of chokers "C" from Proteas. I am still thinking that has SA really brushed aside the tags of chokers by chasing down the shortest World Cup knockout target of 133. We will have to wait for the Semis now..May the best team win.

On big days, you are looking for early signs that everything is going to be all right. Too much experiment sometimes yields the worst result for you. If you can remind April 02, 2011(Final) an experiment at the wee hours of game was introduced by SLankan side in that match also.

2007 (Final) , 2011 (Final) and 2015 (QF) SL has been the most consistent team in big tournaments but the irony they  couldn't win it.

Sri Lanka tried all sorts of verbal gamesmanship. introducing debutant offspinner Tharindu Kaushal as a "duplicate Murali" and "mystery spinner". They made mystery moves, too. Kusal Perera was asked to open although Lahiru Thirimanne had scored 261 runs at the top of the order this World Cup.

A small margin of error brought an exit for Srilankans and disappointment for the most passionate Srilankan fans but the two legends will be missed in ODIs.

World Cup 2015 : Three more hurdles !

'It's a six....Dhoni finishes in style ! India after 28 years lifts the world cup and the party begins in Mumbai' these were the words of Ravi Shahstri way back on April 02, 2011.

India team is three games away to win the heart of 1.252 billion people and it will have to face three more hurdles to write the history.

As an avid fan of cricket we cherished the moment most because I was no where in 1983.

6th Match of ICC World cup 2015 @Seddon Park (Hamilton)... again it was MS finishing with a six but it was a group match ! Perhaps Dhoni has got the habit of finishing the games with winning runs. Stat portrays him the best captain India has ever produced.

First and foremost before reading this piece i wanna assure you that ; this is not a negative thought but a precaution to the team which may help to bring glory and pride to the Nation again.

Probably India captain MS Dhoni doesn't follow much into stats and records as he can be seen saying but this world cup is pouring many more stats in his kitty. MS became the topmost ODI skipper for India as he lead his side to his 176th game as skipper, against Zimbawe in their Pool B match.

He surpassed former skipper Sourav Ganguly as the most successful Indian captain in terms of ODI victories achieved on foreign shores. A win over Zimbabwe was his 60th victory on foreign soil. Even in the lexicon of cricket pandits Team India has become 'the favorites' in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 !

Once the weak and talking point of team India slowly and steadily has become the strength. Kudos to those bowlers who got a "dramatic change" from nowhere down under to taking 60 wickets in six matches except some run outs ! I have rarely seen Indian bowlers bowling with 135-145 km/h speed. These feel very pleasant to eyes.

Team India is on Seventh moon with 10th consecutive World cup win on a trot and 6th win on a trot in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, bowling out the opponent and taking 60th wicket when Umesh Yadav scalped his 10th wicket.

Forget talking stats ...me too was somewhere diving in stats...Here comes the knock out stage and this team probably needs a little bit introspection before going for it. There are still some weak points that needs to be focused.

Team India has outplayed, oufielded and outbowled every single opponent in group matches. There is no dearth of doubt that ' For Men in blue the journey from being sidelined to becoming the favourites' is more than a fairytale. But there are some stats, some strong and some weak points for team India before they march to knock out ! Team India has reached at a stage where even a margin of error can be lethal.

(a) Rohit Sharma's Form :
He may be the first man on planet who has scored two double hundreds in ODIs but for me he is still struggling to middle the ball out of the park in the ongoing world cup. He is player of more caliber than making some runs against the teams like Ireland and Afghanistan.Wish he would come good in next matches India will play.

(b) No plan 'B' or 'C'
A team winning the event like world cup is a milestone in itself. For me this team has no genuine all rounder as it was Yuvi in last world cup held in 2011. Team India looks devoid and bamboozled when their bowlers are being attacked. 75 Runs conceded by Ashwin in his ten overs, the most he has ever conceded in an ODI while Jadeja ended  with a figure of 10-0-71-0. For me these stats may prove vital against  the likes of Kiwis and Aussies. India hardly looks with plan B or C on the field. Don't know why i am saying this ? A match can be won by one-player isn't it but why eleven players then.

(c). Sir Jadeja a consistent headache :

Fondly called "SIR Jadeja" by tea mates and MS himself Ravindra Jadeja has proved out to be nothing, 6 Matches so far 18 runs after batting in 4 games and took 7 wickets after bolwing 48.4 overs. Why the much talked Sturat Binny is not in the team, bcz Dhoni lacks trust in him or no Axar Patel (as an all rounder). Where is the young team, the new team with fresh bloods.

Forget it .....the captain is as good as his team is ! You can't put everything under carpet. The team only gets praise till it is winning....Everyone will start raising questions once or a while perhaps it will fail in any of the knock out matches. Perhaps Ms would be able to pick those middle stamps as souvenir.

Fingers crossed....! not as a fan but fanatic Wish this team to win just three more games QF, SF and Final to bring the glory and pride for a cricket crazy nation. India...India !

All eyes on India !

The Delhi assembly election is over, Arvind Kejriwal led AAP has got a landslide victory and broomed out BJP securing 67 seats out of 70! Perhaps he will take oath on Feb 14...that will again become the history and he will be CM of Delhi ....! plz someone talk about World Cup 2015 now !!!

When the clock struck 5PM at the Adelaide Oval, Color, Dance and Songs have formally announced the beginning of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

There were claps, whistles, a few smiles and a lot of joy in the eyes of cricket fans who had made their way to the stadium to catch a glimpse of their favorite cricket stars.

14 teams, 49 matches, 14 different stadia across Australia and New Zealand and in the end we will get one world champion. We Indians are no different, every Indian who loves cricket is not just a fan of this game but fanatic when it comes to special occasion like world cup.

I remind the matches of 2007 world cup when as a student we had no TVs we use to listen tuning on ball by ball commentary on All India Radio and used to watch the matches standing for hours on street before a shop or even praying to the almighty God to bring light after a light cut during the match way back in 90's. This was the height of craziness.

The "I-N-D-I-A, I-N-D-I-A" chants will be heard the day-long @ Adelaide Oval where all is set to stage the big game between India and Pakistan on the 15th. There is a tournament to be won. And there is a cricket match to be won. The first must be the destination, the second the milestone you drive by.

As an Indian We hardly accept less than a win against Pakistan.This would not be first time when more than 1.25 billion people back here in India will keep all eyes on team India to do a miracle once again and defend the World Champion title.

The India team will be facing the arch-rival Pakistan in a High voltage match at Adelaide Oval, a venue that has been home for Team India for quite some time now.

Hundreds of thousands of people will watch this match again, there will be a packed house, don't know about the results but the fact is Pakistan has never ever won any match in world cup. But one thing is sure even according to cricket pandits India team is not among the top favorites but there will be an unseen burden of the cricket lovers on the shoulder of Indian Players.

South Africa, Australia, New zealand are the most favourite. Don't know why but the guts feeling is saying that the chances of "Won't give it back and chalo phir se dekhein wahi sapna" are looking slim. After a lack luster preparation and winless down under aussies tour ( If i am right Team India has last won an ODI match way back in November 2014 at Ranchi) , only this week against Afghanistan did they finally manage to win a match. The Body language of team India is portraying a different picture.

Tired, too long away from home and the loved ones, lack of form and fitness, injuries, no right opening combination, Dhoni still in doubt on a perfect playing eleven and the right batting and bowling combination are forcing many ifs and buts in the minds of spectator like us. The team was still struggling to get 10 wickets even in a warm up match against Afghansitan. In recent past three years the team has lost the tempo winning away from home.
Wish May the team will do good demolishing all the ifs and buts and will do good in the tournament. As a cricket lover defeat is unacceptable and victory is a reason of joy.

Tears were rolling through my eyes when Ravi Shastri had said "Dhoni finishes in style and lifts the world cup after 28 years, the party begins in Mumbai" way back on April 02, 2011. Wish the team India will do the miracle again.

Good luck team India for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Bring the glory and pride of being world champion back home !!!

Being an avid fan of sports writing anything on it gives me immense pleasure. The Asian Games 2014 has forced me to pen down something about this mega sporting event.

A spectacular ceremony at Incheon has brought an end to two weeks of intense competition, drama and controversy that shone a light on the best and worst of a region that will host the world's biggest events for the next decade. 

Doing GOOOOOGLE for everything has become our daily lives habit...whether you agree or not but this is the hard truth. I am no different....doing the same before writing this piece about the 2014 Asian Games revealed altogether a different story.

We have the habit of making comparison.....India ended its 17th Asian Games campaign at the eighth spot on the medals tally, a drop of two positions from the previous edition of the mega-event which drew to a close with glittering ceremony in Incheon. India signed off with 57 medals -- 11 gold, 10 silver and 36 bronze. The tally dipped considerably compared to the 2010 edition in Guangzhou, China where we had ended sixth with 65 medals -- 14 gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze.

My intention is not to pin point the number of medals that we lost or we remained short but to instill the habit in our athletes of winning medals. We won the Gold medal in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout to end 16 years drought if winning Gold in Hockey. We won both the Kabaddi Gold medals (Men &Women) and some of the medals in Individual games as well while some of the big names couldn't live to the expectation.

Winning should be the habit :
As a nation there are many question that flashes within second in mind that why the Nation of 1.25 billion people always stands from the bottom on podiums in medal tally ? Why the attitude of our sports authority are huffing and puffing to these games? Why the athletes don't get the basis infrastructures in such games with a hunger of "Go for Gold" ? There are many whys that need answers....!

Perhaps this is the high time when we should avoid the habit of being complacent and look to improve this medal tally and try to bring more pride and glory to the country. Our sports authorities and sports ministry must introspect and the answer will be surely before us.

This is the irony of of our country that the athletes don't get the support as they want. The controversial bout of Sarita Devi was a candid example of that. Once she raised the voice for justice and truth our sports authorities were to take action against her was she in tears for no reason? The sports staffs enjoy the honeymoon period during these events and forget such incident by a fighter who gives everything (she was saying in an interview to a TV channel that her one and half year child doesn't recognize her because she was preparing for the bout since one year being away from home)  to bring glory and pride for the country.

Lack of preparation, the huffing and puffing attitude of our sports authorities to these sports and the unavailability of basic infrastructures are the prime reasons that force us as a nation to finish low on podiums.

This attitude must be changed, the country is going through a transition period of change then why not to bring a change which may inculcate the habit of winning. The political pundits say that our Prime Minister is a great visionary...i urge him to make some vision for the sake of these sports and athletes as well. 

Mr. Prime Minister is keen to make India of 21st century...hope he would pay attention on bringing glory to the country. It will certainly help bring more respect and pride. If we will provide the basic facilities to the athletes and groom them accordingly we may stand high headed in the medals tally.

Being an avid fan of sports these words seem harsh even to me but we as a nation have the habit of hoping and expecting more and more.

Look for Bright Future :

Our athletes win the medals, we feel proud, sometimes we see some officials going to the airport to receive the medlains. But there is different story behind winning the medlas for country, standing on the podiums, seeing the National Flag being hoisted on the tunes of National Anthem. Sometimes we should try to peep into the story behind the success.

GOLDEN MOMENT IN KABADDI

Lots of hard work, dedication, devotion and fanatic love for the country propels an athlete to pour out their skin to get a medal. Those athletes hardly get the due credit and honour as they deserve. Rigorous training despite lack of basic facilities, concrete resolution and the faith in oneself yields an athlete among 1.25 billion people who brings honour and pride to the country.

Why not special coverage for Asian Games...why there is no live telecast of Asian Games on our National Television ; If our national channel DD can cover more than one hour speech of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and the PMO can retweet his speech why this step-mother behaviour to those athletes who give everything to bring pride to the country ? There are many whys and we always strive for an answer...still waiting and will this wait end ?

The Govt must work out to build training camps in every state and districts of the country to churn out the athlete and better this medal tally. Working on paper will never yield athletes and medals for country but the ground work will. A hunger must be invoked in the desired athletes to give out their skin to "Go for Gold". The win- win word must be in the lexicon of every athlete and the Government and every citizen of this country must pay the due respect to every athlete they deserve in whichever manner they want.

Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom popularly known as MC Mary Kom would have hardly earned so much money doing boxing in her entire life while Priyanka did by acting in a biopic inspired by her life. I wish the adequate royalty would have been paid to her. 

This is the irony of our country that the athletes don't get the due credit what they deserve. But thanks to those directors who are making such movies by which the nation has come to known about  Milkha Singh, Pan Singh Tomar, Mary Kom and many more in the queue .

With a hope that Incheon has brought glory and pride to our country and Indonesia, the hosts of the next Asian Games in 2018 will bring more glory and medals if the attitude of our sports authority change in coming years. We must hope for the change in attitude and medal tally both !!!

Will miss you Sachin!

Being the die hard fan of Sachin the first sentence that comes in our mind after his retirement from ODIs is that flick would be missed; the delicately placed shot off the pads, the trademark straight-drive with the manufacturer’s logo so visible; the punch to cover; it will all be missed.It was an amazing night of April 2, 2011 when Sachin lived his dream as India won the World Cup after 28 years at the Wankhede Stadium.We will miss every run scored by you and every ball that you have faced to serve the Nation.

I could feel the tears in my eyes twice first when India lifted the world cup after the gap of 28 years and second when Sachin called it a day from ODIs.

Not a sudden decision:

He must be thinking for this day since long time,he must have talked with family and his friends.The decision to say good bye to one-day cricket was not sudden. For some time he had come to realise that the body was not listening to his brain. Fatigued legs and arms at the end of the day were clear indication to Sachin that he had to take the call. Test or one-day cricket, the choice was easy. He had valued Test cricket higher even though his recent form has meant a dent in his reputation.Sachin has conveyed a strong message to the world of cricket that Test cricket is still the best cricket.He would have retired from test why from ODIs.

Why not good bye on ground:

When you would have seen Sachin's retirement news either on TV or have heard it one question must have come through your mind why Sachin has not announced his retirement playing ODIs why living off the field.Sachin is great in test but greatest in ODIs and he will remain as same in the heart of millions of fans.I am still searching that what prompted this tough decision to quit ODIs?
